Acoustic Enclosures and Silencers
Founded over 15 years ago, the acoustics division within the Witt & Sohn group has developed into a high profile industrial noise control solutions provider boasting a wealth of knowledge & experience within the industrial acoustics market. Manufacturing acoustic equipment and enclosures - designed with a choice of unventilated, natural and mechanically ventilated interiors, with materials to suit all applications - we can offer a wide and varied product range of industrial and environmental noise control products all of which are designed and manufactured on site. The range includes acoustic enclosures and silencers tailor-made to cope with individual noise problems. All work is performed according to the British and International test codes.
Through our computer aided design studio, we can offer a full turnkey and bespoke installation service. Standard equipment is manufactured as folded and screwed pre-galvanised mild steel for low pressure applications & fully welded mild steel for high pressure applications. All standard equipment is packed using inert, non-combustible, non-hygroscopic vermin proof mineral wool lined with one layer of retaining scrim cloth. Most products can be manufactured from pre-galvanised mild steel, mild steel, stainless steel, PVC or Polypropylene.
The standard method of test information recorded includes airflow noise, static insertion loss, dynamic insertion loss, self generated, pressure loss with airflow noise. The measurement tolerances during these tests were held within the limits laid down in BS4718. Material & Test certification can also be provided.
Applications for equipment include fan open / discharge silencers. Fan inlet / discharge duct mounted silencers, Acoustic louvers, Acoustic doors and Acoustic screens.

CA & CAP range of silencers
Where CA is a silencer with no Pod and CAP is a silencer with a Pod.
All silencers are manufactured from pre-galvanised sheet steel and are Melinex lined at no extra cost.
Silencers are available in six types, podded and unpodded, with the product codes being:
- CA. 1D
- CA. 1.5D
- CA. 2D
- CAP. 1D
- CAP. 1.5D
- CAP. 2D
Diameters go from 250mm through to 2000mm.

Acoustic Enclosures
The noise source is placed within the acoustic enclosure so that the source spherically radiates from the centre to hit the wall of the enclosure. An acoustic infill - usually a long strand of glass fibre mineral wool or high density acoustic foam - stops the noise source reverberating around the enclosure and gaining in amplitude.
The outer skin of the acoustic enclosure reduces the noise source transmitting through the skin due to mass laws, therefore the greater the mass of the outer skin, the greater the reduction on the noise source.
